Well in your yard near the log cabin

If you have a log cabin in your garden, most likely you would like to plant some organics (cucumbers, tomatoes or anything that grows in the ground!) Sure enough, water supply is the most crucial part of the whole process and often this might be a problem – what are the alternatives if a pond is absent in your garden or there is no centralized water supply?

Well the answer is quite simple – it is a well!

Depending on the type of construction, a well can be classed as a borehole, or a tubular or traditional well which are dug by hand. However, before proceeding with any of this, it is crucial to landscape your garden and discover the location where the water comes closest to the surface.

You can achieve this in a number of ways – some people believe that animals gather closer to these spots or that they are greener or foggier but at any case the most reliable way to achieve this is to make a trial borehole. Moreover, it is important to place the well at least 30 yards away from any plumbing constructions.

Nowadays, wells are most commonly made of concrete. In order to ensure stability, concrete pipes or rings come into play, but if you are struggling to find these any monolithic ingots will easily work as an alternative. In order to make the latter work, place two layers along the whole size of the well shaft and simply pour concrete in between. Reinforced mesh or any similar reinforcement material can be used to make the structure sturdier.

The upper part of the well, or the face, can be made depending on your personal taste, however most likely you will want to match it with your log cabin so it will be made out of timber. Also, there are now plenty of electric pumps that will easily lift the bucket containing your precious water.
